Acting in Pairs

Acting in Pairs is a wonderful option for building confidence in acting, improvisation, and performance skills, and offers candidates a great deal of fun and enjoyment in doing so. It is an excellent choice for school pupils who may be taught in groups, and who may choose to present scenes from plays they are otherwise studying in class. It is also an excellent way to introduce a less confident pupil to the experience of performance assessment.

Acting in Pairs is available from Grade 1 to Grade 8. At the most junior levels, children perform a scene they have developed through improvisation. From Grade 3, a scene from a play is required as well as a contrasting scene developed through improvisation.

At the more advanced levels, scenes from plays in different styles (such as verse) are required, and candidates share the task of introduction.

This syllabus is often chosen as an option at Advanced levels by candidates who are senior school pupils whose lives are otherwise burdened by academic written examination papers.

Grade for grade, Acting in Pairs has the same value as any of the solo Acting and Speaking assessments. Each candidate receives a written report, and, if successful, a certificate. It is possible for members of a pair to achieve different levels of success.
