Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE)

  • Skills tested: Speaking and Listening
  • 12 levels (CEFR: pre-A1–C2)
  • Suitable for absolute beginners to advanced learners
  • Typical learners include school, college and mature learners

Integrated Skills in English (ISE)

  • Skills tested: Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing
  • 5 levels (CEFR: A2–C2)
  • Suitable for elementary to advanced learners
  • Typical learners include school, college, university students, to prove language skills for educational purposes

Spoken English for Work (SEW)

  • Skills tested: Speaking and Listening
  • 4 levels (CEFR: B1–C1)
  • Suitable for learners aged 16+ already in work or seeking work
  • Typical learners include those looking for promotion or an opportunity to improve career prospects.

Recognition

With a certificate from Trinity your English language skills will be recognised by colleges, universities and employers worldwide. ISE and GESE are recognised by many higher educational institutions around the world as evidence of English language ability.

In the UK, ISE, GESE and SEW are accredited by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and its respective partners in Wales and Northern Ireland.   • Skills tested:
    • a) Speaking and Listening (full standalone qualification)
    • b) + Reading
    • c) + Writing = All-modes qualification
  • 5 levels (NQF Entry 1–Level 2)
  • Learners include students (14+) and adults who may want to become British citizens
  • Step 1 and Step 2: for beginners working towards Skills for Life
