Pre-grading
Notes for teachers
It is vitally important that all centres and their teachers read the notes in the download section on the right before completing the test and utilising the results.
About this test
This test has been designed to assist teachers with the placement of learners at the appropriate grade in the Trinity Graded Examinations in Spoken English suite and is specifically aimed at those teachers who have no experience of selecting grades at which learners should be entered. It can also be used in connection with the oral interview component of some of the Integrated Skills in English examinations. It cannot replace a teacher's judgement.
Teachers know their learners and are best placed to assess their ability against the criteria in the Trinity syllabuses. The syllabuses must be consulted at all times when trying to place learners at the appropriate grade. The test must not be used as a substitute for the syllabus.
Other factors which need to be taken into account when using this test are given in the full download document. It is important to note that this test is limited in its ability to predict accurately which grade a particular learner can achieve.
You will need to download the following:
1. Notes for Teachers
2. Pre-grading Test Part 1
3. Pre-grading Test Part 2 (you have 8 different tests to choose from).
The answer key for each test is included with each Part 2 PDF document.
