Interactive Phase

As part of the GESE examinations at Intermediate stage (Grades 7-9) and Advanced stage (Grades 10-12), candidates complete ‘the Interactive phase’.

Examiners initiate the phase by reading out a prompt. It is then the candidate’s responsibility to ask questions and make comments in order to develop and maintain a conversation based on the initial prompt.

At the Intermediate stage, the emphasis is on the candidate demonstrating use of the language functions of the grade. At the Advanced stage, in addition to expressing the language functions of the grade, candidates are expected to demonstrate control of grammatical items of the grade.

For practice, you can download sample prompts for each grade by clicking on the links below. These documents also provide guidance on how to prepare for this phase.
