Two exciting diplomas in dance from Trinity

We’ve developed qualifications in partnership with international organisations to give you the chance to demonstrate your skills and knowledge as a dancer, or a teacher of dance and related professional disciplines.

All our assessments are based on the real-life needs of students and the industry, and each one of our assessors is a respected dance professional.

  • The Level 6 Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People), provides evidence to employers, parents or carers that a dance practitioner has the expertise to teach children and young people. It was developed in partnership with the Dance Training and Accreditation Partnership (DTAP).
  • The ATCL Performing (Contemporary Dance) is a new Level 4 qualification designed to enable contemporary dance students to display and evidence their skills and knowledge through a series of performance-based assessment tasks. It was developed in consultation with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance: one of the world’s leading providers of contemporary dance education and training.

Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning

This diploma is designed for practitioners working outside formal education with children and young people, and is a Level 6 qualification developed at the request of the major national dance organisations.

Safe and Effective Dance
Practice

The Certificate in Safe and Effective Practice (SEDP) closed for new registrations on 31 December 2013. Candidates registered before that date have a year to complete the qualification – the final assessment date is 31 December 2014.

Recognition

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, these qualifications are accredited by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), the Welsh Assembly Government and the Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA).

Trinity College London is a validated member of the Council for Dance Education and Training for its Dance and Musical Theatre qualifications.
