Trinity Guildhall Guitar Syllabus 2010-2012

This syllabus contains full details of Grade examinations in Guitar and Plectrum Guitar

Guitarists can now enjoy an exciting new repertoire list, with brand new repertoire books for Initial to Grade 8.  Pieces range from the 16th century to the present day and there is also a new duet book for Initial to Grade 3. 

All new CD recordings for Initial to Grade 8, feature celebrated international performer Carlos Bonell.   

Examination candidates play three pieces chosen from the published list(s) In Classical Guitar exams, the pieces may include up to two guitar duets may be played in Initial to Grade 3 and for the technical work all candidates play Scales, Arpeggios & Technical Exercises or the new Technical Suite. 

For all guitar examinations there are two further tests. Up to and including Grade 5, candidates may choose any two tests from: Aural, Sight Reading, Improvisation and Musical Knowledge.

In Grades 6, 7 and 8, Sight Reading is compulsory, but candidates may still choose between Aural and Improvisation.

Guitar and Plectrum Guitar Scales and Exercises are available from your local music shop or from our online store.

This syllabus supercedes all previously published repertoire lists and should be viewed in conjunction with Information and Regulations 2012.
